What is this?

  • Personality concerns the way we characteristically respond and relate to other people and situations, how we tackle problems, our emotionality and responsiveness to stress and so on. Personality questionnaires are good examples of tests that assess disposition or a person’s preferred or typical way of acting or thinking
  • Test items of this type do not have a right or wrong answer
  • In a recruitment scenario personality questionnaires can often be used to provide areas for further probing at interview stage or can be used to ascertain potential ‘fit’ between a candidate and the organisation
  • Profiling via personality questionnaires can indicate how individuals will cope with different job requirements and the person-job fit so critical to success
  • Beyond selection, personality profiling is invaluable in the development arena, providing individuals with a detailed insight into their behaviour at work
  • Personality questionnaires can be used to look more specifically at areas such as:
    • Management competency
    • Team style
